Cancer Research South, officially named the Primary Children’s and Families’ Cancer Research Center, opened in 2017. The building offers an impressive one linear mile of lab bench space, hosting over 263 research teams and 325 clinical trials and has a total of 225,000 square feet for laboratory space and administrative offices.
Home to the unique Utah Population Database, this facility supports groundbreaking genetic and public health research, including the discovery of the BRCA genes associated with increased breast cancer risk.

Parking Instructions
Huntsman Cancer Institute Parking Terrace
Free Valet parking
- Proceed past both parking terraces and around the circle at the end of the road.
- Follow road back down to Cancer Hospital South entrance.
- Follow signs for valet parking.
Self-parking
- Look for the Parking Cancer Hospital South 2 sign on your right and turn into the parking terrace.
Masking Policy
Huntsman Cancer Institute has an optional masking policy in most clinical areas for patients, visitors, faculty, and staff. However, we do require masking in specific spaces to protect our highly immunocompromised patients.
