Sigma Chi Shield

In December 2012, Sigma Chi designated the Huntsman Cancer Foundation (HCF) as its sole preferred philanthropic partner. On April 12, 2013, Sigma Chi members presented the millionth dollar raised for cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute to Significant Sig and Order of Constantine Sig Jon M. Huntsman, Sr., Pennsylvania 1959.

On June 15, 2015, Sigma Chi made the largest commitment by a men鈥檚 fraternity, with an $11 million pledge to HCF. In February 2020, Sigma Chi fulfilled that pledge.

In 2019, at the Sigma Chi Grand Chapter celebration in Salt Lake City, Utah, the fraternity made an even bigger announcement: an additional $20 million pledge to HCF, bringing the total overall commitment to $31 million. The $20 million is dedicated to be used for women's cancer screening, treatment, and research, and will be fulfilled in Fall 2025.

In June 2025, Sigma Chi once again made history by announcing it would be doubling its impact with a new $31 million pledge to create the Sigma Chi Center for Advanced Therapeutics and Innovation at Huntsman Cancer Institute. The center will perform groundbreaking research, as well as propel new clinical trials that will lead to safer and more effective treatments, improved quality of life, and potential cures for patients across North America and beyond.

Today, the Sigma Chi name graces the Huntsman Cancer Institute campus, with various dedicated spaces, including the Sigma Chi Friendship Garden, the Sigma Chi Bridge of Hope, the Sigma Chi Outdoor Deck, the Sigma Chi Sixth Floor, the Sigma Chi 1st Floor, and soon, the Sigma Chi Center for Advanced Therapeutics and Innovation. During the 2024-2025 school year, Sigma Chi raised over $5 million for cancer research.

At Sigma Chi, this is our battle cry: We Are The Generation to End Cancer鈩.

The Huntsman Challenge

The Huntsman Challenge is an online competition between the chapters of Sigma Chi. Chapter winners are announced each year at Balfour Leadership Training Workshop. The Challenge runs annually from August 1 to July 31.

Philanthropy has always been an integral part of Sigma Chi, with the undergraduates taking up the rallying cry of becoming "The Generation to End Cancer." This partnership with Sigma Chi is significant because college students across the world are directly affecting the lives of others through their fundraising efforts each year. These young men are facilitating workshops, events, and campaigns that reach outside of the Mountain West region of the United States to involve people from all walks of life in the fight against cancer.

Sigma Chi alumni can get involved and support their local chapter. For more information regarding Sigma Chi and its relationship to HCF please email sigmachi@huntsmanfoundation.org.
